We are a gear-decision authority. We do not teach diving, certify divers, or replace an instructor. Every gear-advice page carries that line, and anything touching in-water procedure hands off to your training agency and DAN.

Our authors write under real, consistent bylines with honest job descriptions — Lead Gear Analyst, Fit & Beginner-Decision Editor. They make no instructor-rating, dive-count, or trip claims, because inventing experience to sell gear is exactly the trust failure we exist against.

Our pre-dive readiness tool does gear checklists and service-date math only. It will never compute a decompression schedule, a no-stop limit, or a gas plan. That is a line we do not cross, on purpose, for liability and for your safety.

Service intervals, no-fly windows, and temperature bands on this site are planning reminders and general guidance. Your manufacturer’s manual, your computer, and your agency govern the real numbers — always.

Affiliate links and our own merch fund the site, both disclosed. No brand pays for placement or scores. We take no free gear in exchange for a verdict. A commission never moves a ranking.

We show the real last-updated date — never a fake "2026" refresh to look current. We do not publish fabricated testing we did not do, and we do not stack review-star markup to game rich results.

When we get something wrong, we fix it in place and say what changed. Gear specs and prices move; a research desk’s job is to move with them and admit it.

We name manufacturers and agencies editorially, to inform — never to imply endorsement, and never on merch. Our designs use original instrument iconography, not anyone’s marks.
