When is scuba gear due for service?
There is no universal answer — every manufacturer sets its own program, and the honest rule is to follow yours. What the tool above does is turn those intervals into a calendar so nothing quietly ages past due between trips. Here is the general shape of it, by gear type, as reminders only:
- REGULATORS
- Common manufacturer programs run annual or every-two-years / ~100 dives, with an inspection between. A wandering intermediate pressure is the classic "due" tell.
- BCDS
- Inflator service and a bladder leak check roughly annually; more often on heavy salt use.
- COMPUTERS
- Battery and seal service on the maker’s schedule or per charge cycle — rechargeables and coin-cells age differently.
- CYLINDERS
- Visual inspection (VIP) annually and hydrostatic test every five years in the US; fill stations refuse out-of-date tanks.
- LIGHTS & HOUSINGS
- O-ring service before trips; main housing o-ring replaced, not just inspected, when it matters.
- SAVE-A-DIVE KIT
- Restock every six months — the kit only works when it is full.
