Atmospheres absolute — total pressure counting the air column plus water. Surface is 1 ATA; every ~10 m of seawater adds another, so 10 m is 2 ATA and 20 m is 3 ATA. Boyle’s law follows: the air in your BCD and your gas consumption both track ambient pressure. Educational framing only; planning belongs to training.
